Mystic Maples provides programs and services which reflect Heather Nelson’s many years of experience with horses. She has an understanding of innate horse communication and uses this to benefit both humans and horses.
Heather’s mission is to improve communication between horses and people, and to develop cohesive partnerships to facilitate self-development and healing. She encourages people to develop their natural awareness of themselves and the horse, through intuition, touch, breathing, and body language, whether on the ground or in the saddle. Sessions provide the opportunity to develop self-awareness and self-confidence, in addition to improving communication and leadership abilities.
Individualized training is based upon personal traits, learning styles and physical abilities of you and your horse. Heather provides hands on private or semi-private sessions designed to meet your needs or your horse’s.
Heather will travel to your home or teach/train at Mystic Maples, her lovely five-acre horse property. Located on the bus route and only 10 minutes west of Duncan near Highway #1 on Vancouver Island, Mystic Maples is nestled among green pastures with mountain views. Enjoy the pleasant fragrance of the Island air as you become more in tune with yourself and your horse.
I knew nothing about horses and was, in fact, a little afraid of them. In just a few sessions Heather has taught me to not only be comfortable around horses but to honor the heart connection they offer. The riding lessons have taught me to pay attention to my own state of mind and presence and how this affects my skill as a rider and my relationship with the horse. She has a wonderful positive approach to teaching and seems to know exactly how to explain each task so that I, and my horse, succeed. I always leave the lessons feeling great about what I did and grateful that Heather is my teacher.
